CARSON CITY, Nev. - The College of Southern Idaho fell to eventual Region 18 Tournament Salt Lake 8-3 Friday to end its season and claim third in the league tournament.
The Golden Eagles opened the tournament with a 4-3 win over Colorado Northwestern before dropping into the loser's bracket with a 10-5 loss to Salt Lake. CSI stayed alive with a 10-2 victory over College of Eastern Utah to advance to the third-place game against Salt Lake.
Mike Renner earned the win against CNCC throwing eight innings and giving up just five hits and recording 13 strikeouts. Travis Huber earned the Golden Eagles other win of the tournament, beating Eastern Utah. The sophomore gave up just two earned runs on eight hits and six strikeouts.
CSI committed four errors in the final loss to Salt Lake and couldn't recover.
The Golden Eagles finish their season with an overall record of 34-22 and a Scenic West Athletic Conference record of 24-16.
