CSI SB splits with NIC on last home weekend

TWIN FALLS - As dominant as the Golden Eagle softball team was on Friday, it was as flat on Saturday. CSI beat North Idaho 8-5 and 9-1 on Friday and then fell to the Cardinals 8-6 and 15-11 Saturday.
The Golden Eagles scored a total of seven runs in the 7th inning on Saturday but in both games just came up short. Still North Idaho managed just three more hits on the day.
After going 0-for-4 at the plate in game one of the weekend, Marina Groenewegen came back to lead CSI at the plate. She finished the last three games 8-for-10 with 7 runs scored, 8 RBI and 4 homeruns.
Jessi Duncan also had a solid showing in the circle on Friday, throwing a one-hitter for the win.
CSI, which wrapped up the second seed, moved to 36-16 on the season and 30-9 in conference play. The Golden Eagles will travel to Salt Lake May 12th for the Region 18 Tournament.
