TWIN FALLS - The College of Southern Idaho baseball team earned a split this weekend with the College of Southern Nevada in Scenic West Athletic Conference play. The Golden Eagles beat the Coyotes 3-2 Friday before falling to them 9-6 in the nightcap. On Saturday, CSI won 6-0 and lost 3-0.
CSI had solid pitching performances all weekend from its pitching staff. In the game one win, Travis Huber threw six innings, giving up just five hits and two runs. On Saturday, Michael Renner went the distance, surrendering just two hits and no walks coupled with six strikeouts. Both Huber and Renner earned the two Golden Eagles wins. Teammate Chris Kerns also posted a solid pitching performance, throwing five innings and giving up only two hits. Several Golden Eagles errors led to Southern Nevada's three runs and ultimately CSI's loss as the Golden Eagles couldn't put any runs on the board.
CSI, which hosts Salt Lake Friday and Saturday, moves to 25-15 overall and 17-11 in conference play.
