CSI WBB comes up short Friday; season ends

TWIN FALLS - The College of Southern Idaho women's basketball team took a 2-point lead into the lockerroom at the half but couldn't hold on, falling to North Idaho 84-72 Friday in the Region 18 Tournament.
The win moves the Cardinals into the championship at 5 p.m. on Saturday. The loss ends the Golden Eagles season.
Laurel Kearsley led CSI with 19 points, six rebounds and four steals. Felicity Jones added eight points, seven rebounds and two assists.
For North Idaho, Kama Griffitts knocked down five 3-pointers en route to 20 points. She added seven rebounds and six assists. Tugce Canitez added 18 points, 17 rebounds, six assists and three steals.
In the late game, Snow led by as much as 14 points in the first half but couldn't hold on, losing to top-seeded SLCC 65-62.
The Bruins pushed their lead all the way to 15 with eight minutes left in the game but a furious comeback gave Snow a shot to tie with 10 seconds left to play.  Alle Finch took the shot for Snow and it fell just short. Salt Lake hit one free throw with 2 seconds left to play and Snow couldn't get the shot off as time expired.
Holmstead led SLCC with 19 points. Jami Mokofisi added 16 points and 14 rebounds.
For Snow Finch finished with 24 points, eight rebounds, three assists and two blocked shots.
Salt Lake will play North Idaho at 5 p.m. Saturday. The winner will advance to the NJCAA National Tournament.
