CSI to honor 1976 NJCAA MBB Champions

TWIN FALLS - The College of Southern Idaho Athletic Department will complete some unfinished business this Saturday at halftime of the 35th Annual K&T Steel Tournament.
When the 1976 men's basketball team brought home the NJCAA National Championship trophy, the players never were given rings. Thanks to an anonymous donor, members of that team will be in attendance this weekend to receive their championship rings.
In addition to honoring the 1976 team at halftime, there will be a K&T Steel Luncheon at the Turf Club at 11 a.m. Saturday. Coaches from the different teams competing in the tournament as well as some of the 1976 players will be in attendance. This is open to the public but will be $5 per person.
Players that will be in attendance to be honored at halftime are Ed Nickols, Eric Hovey, Dennis Bowyer, Andre Wakefield, Jeff Wiggam, Bruce Ware and Jim Marshall as well as their head coach Boyd Grant.
The Golden Eagles open the K&T Steel Tournament Friday against Treasure Valley CC at 7:30 p.m. In the early game at 5:30 p.m., Chemeketa CC will take on Western Wyoming. On Saturday, Western Wyoming will play Treasure Valley CC at 5:30 p.m. with CSI playing Chemeketa CC at 7:30 p.m.
