CSI women fall short Saturday to SLCC

TWIN FALLS - The College of Southern Idaho women's basketball team fell just short Saturday, losing to Salt Lake 60-58 in Scenic West Athletic Conference play.
Down just one point with two minutes to play, the Golden Eagles appeared to have the ball when Salt Lake called timeout and was awarded it. SLCC's Haley Holmstead came out of the timeout to hit a 3-pointer with one second on the clock. It was a lead the Golden Eagles couldn't overcome.
Fanny Cavallo, Laurel Kearsley and Tina Fakahaftua led CSI under the basketball. They combined for 27 rebounds and 28 points to help lead CSI in rebounds over Salt Lake 46-40.
CSI outshot SLCC, knocking down 40 percent from the field to 30 percent for the Bruins but Salt Lake was able to capitalize from the free-throw line. The Bruins hit 19-of-25, while CSI was 3-of-4.
The Golden Eagles move to 17-5 overall and 4-3 in league play.
