TWIN FALLS, Idaho - The College of Southern Idaho softball team, ranked sixth in the nation, wanted to use this weekend's series with top-ranked Salt Lake as a measuring stick of how much it had improved since early in the season and where it stood in comparison to the best in the nation.
The Eagles found out they have definitely improved and can compete with the best, finishing the weekend 2-2 against Salt Lake. CSI beat the Bruins 12-7 on Friday before losing to Salt Lake 18-6 and 6-0 Saturday. The Eagles finished up the series with a 5-4 victory late Saturday.
Leading the way for the Eagles in the circle was
Kelsey Bryant. Bryant, who spends most of her innings at shortstop, gave up just four hits to earn the 5-4 victory. She helped herself at the plate too, going 2-for-3 with one run scored and one RBI.
The Golden Eagles improve to 33-12 overall and 24-7 in league play.
CSI travels to Ephraim Friday and Saturday to take on Snow College. The Badgers are coming off a weekend split with North Idaho College.
