CSI baseball splits with CEU Friday

TWIN FALLS, Idaho - The College of Southern Idaho baseball team split with College of Eastern Utah Friday, losing 4-0 in the opener and bouncing back for a 2-1 victory in game two.
CSI's Mike Renner threw a 3-hitter in the nine-inning nightcap, giving up no earned runs and no walks with nine strikeouts.
With the scored tied at one, Michael Wesner led off the bottom of the eighth for CSI with a double. He then advanced to third on a wild pitch and then scored the winning run on another wild pitch.
In the opening game, CEU scored two runs in the first inning on three hits and two hit batsmen.
Wesner is the only Golden Eagle to post more than one hit for CSI, going 2-for-3 at the plate.
The Golden Eagles move to 18-14 overall and 7-9 in Scenic West Athletic Conference play. CSI hosts CEU Saturday for a doubleheader starting at noon.
