Ephraim, Utah - Despite out-hitting Snow all weekend, the fifth-ranked College of Southern Idaho softball team struggled to produce runs, losing 4-3, 7-2 and 2-1 with just one 6-3 victory this weekend.
The Golden Eagles were coming off a huge weekend where they knocked off No. 1 Salt Lake twice and handed the Bruins their only two losses on the season to that point.
"We didn't handle our success very well," said CSI softball coach Nick Baumert. "We just thought we could show up and win. Hopefully, we learned our lesson. We left 33 runners stranded in four games. You can't do that and win games."
In the final game, CSI had the bases loaded twice with one out and both times hit into double plays.
Still, several Golden Eagles put up good numbers. Mikkel Griffin continued her torrid pace at the plate, hitting .538 with three doubles and four RBI. She also finished with three stolen bases.
Brie Dimond finished the weekend with CSI's only win in the circle, giving up three runs on nine hits.
Teammate Generra Nielson also threw well, giving up just two earned runs (0.98 ERA) in 14.1 innings with 15 strikeouts. She earned a save in CSI's win.
The Golden Eagles move to 34-15 on the season and 25-10 in league play. They travel to North Idaho this weekend to take on the Cardinals.
