TWIN FALLS, Idaho - The College of Southern Idaho baseball team played three games Friday against Salt Lake instead of the scheduled doubleheader, trying to beat the incoming storm. The Golden Eagles fell 1-0 in an extra-inning opening game, then 8-0 and finally 2-1.
The two teams were unable to play their final scheduled SWAC contest Saturday because of snow.
Mike Renner did his job on the mound for the Golden Eagles in game one, giving up just four hits in eight innings and one run. But the CSI bats were silent as the Golden Eagles scattered just four hits and no runs.
In game two the Bruin bats came alive as Salt Lake finished with 10 hits and eight runs, while CSI managed just two hits and no runs.
The third game mirrored the first in that both teams put up four hits and Salt Lake pulled out a one-run victory.
The losses drop CSI to 12-11 overall and 1-6 in Scenc West Athletic Conference play.
The Golden Eagles travel to Western Nevada Friday and Saturday for two doubleheaders.
