SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - The 8th-ranked College of Southern Idaho volleyball team hit a road block Friday and Saturday, falling to 18th-ranked Snow College 25-20, 22-25, 28-26, 26-24 Friday and 17th-ranked Salt Lake CC 25-21, 25-18, 25-21.
The Golden Eagles had a chance to earn the two seed in this weekend's Region 18 Tournament by beating the Bruins, but the loss was costly as it bumped Salt Lake up to the two seed from the fourth position and dropped Snow into the fourth spot.
That means CSI will open the tournament in Coeur d'Alene against Colorado Northwestern at 11 a.m. MST Friday. A win would move the Golden Eagles into the semifinals at 5 p.m. MST against Salt Lake CC. The winner of that match advances to the Region 18 Championship Saturday at 2 p.m. MST but more important the winner earns a spot in the NJCAA National Championships in West Plains, Mo. later this month.
CSI ends the regular season 22-10 overall and 6-4 in Region 18 play.
