HOUSTON, Texas - The 8th-ranked College of Southern Idaho volleyball team showed they can compete with the best this Sept. 11-12th as the Golden Eagles won the San Jacinto Tournament, beating three top 10 programs.
CSI defeated Lee College 16-25, 25-20, 25-20, 25-13, #5 Miami-Dade 26-24, 25-23, 25-22, #16 Temple College 25-15, 25-23, 25-12, #1 Blinn College 25-20, 25-21, 25-23 and #9 San jacinto College 25-20, 25-21, 20-25, 25-20.
Leading the way for the Golden Eagles all weekend was outside hitter Jessica Peacock. The CSI outside hitter tallied 79 kills in five matches, along with 31 digs and 10 blocks. Against No. 1 Blinn College, Peacock led the Golden Eagles with 24 kills, 4 digs, 1 block and 4 aces. For her play, Peacock was named the NJCAA Player of the Week.
CSI hosts four top 25 programs Sept. 18th and 19th in the Starr Corporation Invitational.
