Golden Eagles lose heartbreaker in five to North Idaho

Boxscore

TWIN FALLS - Down 14-9 in game five, the Golden Eagles battled all the way back to 14-13 but had dug too deep a hole to pull out the victory Saturday, losing to North Idaho 23-25, 25-13, 19-25, 25-15, 15-13.
The loss will not only knock the No. 1-ranked Golden Eagles out of the top spot but also will all but assure the Region 18 Tournament will not be in Twin Falls.
The Golden Eagles had moments of solid play but could only muster a .139 hitting percentage for the match. That was due in part to North Idaho's 18 team blocks. While CSI didn't make adjustments offensively, they also did not defensively. The Golden Eagles ended with just 5 blocks, allowing the Cardinals to hit .330.
The loss drops CSI to 22-4 overall and 4-2 in conference play. Of the Golden Eagles' four losses, three have been to North Idaho.
CSI travels to Eastern Utah and Colorado NW Oct. 23-24.
