Southern Idaho Golden Eagles

Nick Baumert joined the Golden Eagles as the head softball coach in 2006. He earned 2007 Region 18 Coach of the Year his very first season and was voted 2011, 2013, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2022, 2025 and 2026 Region 18 Coach of Year as well. The Golden Eagles are coming off their fifth straight NJCAA National Tournament appearance. 
In 2022  the Golden Eagles won the Region 18 Title and finished 9th at the NJCAA National Tournament. CSI won the Region 18 Championship again in 2023. In 2024, the Golden Eagles earned an at-large berth to nationals, taking 9th at the NJCAA National Tournament and then followed that up in 2025 with a SWAC Title, and a Region 18 Title. This past season, CSI won the Scenic West Athletic Conference Title, the Region 18 Championships and finished 2-2 at the national tournament for 13th place.
Baumert also led CSI Region 18 Championships in 2008, 2014 and 2018, taking 9th in 2008 and 7th in 2018.  The Golden Eagles have cracked the top 10 in the NJCAA National Poll in 14 of the 20 seasons. The Golden Eagles have earned NJCAA Academic team honors 20 straight years.
CSI has competed in the Region 18 Championship game every year of its existence. In his 20 years at CSI, Baumert has compiled a 851-350-2 record.

During their 20 seasons, the Golden Eagles have had 35 All-Americans, 47 NFCA All-West selections, 18 NFCA All-Americans and 117 NJCAA Academic All-Americans.
    Prior to being hired to start a brand new program at CSI, Baumert coached high school softball.
    As the Twin Falls High School varsity coach for seven seasons, Baumert led the Bruins to a 159-46 record. He won the Region III title five times and placed fifth three times at the state tournament.
    Throughout his high school coaching career, he coached one high school All-American, six Region III Players of the Year and 29 Region III first team selections. He also helped 12 players continue their softball career at the college level.
    Baumert received coach of the year accolades five times for Region III, twice for the Times-News and seven times from the District IV coaches. Baumert was named Distinguished Softball Coach of the Year for Idaho in 2006.
    Baumert is married to Karen. They have two daughters, Katelynn and Kylie.
