COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho - The CSI Women's Soccer team lost their first ever game as a nationally ranked squad, as they fell to in-state rival North Idhaho 1-0 on Thursday afternoon.
Fresh off the heels of a huge week last week, the Golden Eagles were unable to carry that momentum into their final road stretch of the regular season. The Golden Eagles were able to create opportunities, especially in the first half where nine of their 12 shots came. Half of their 12 shots were on goal but ultimately they were never able to find that elusive score. The Cardinals were able to score the lone goal of the match late in the first half, and they held strong defensively, holding the Golden Eagles to just three second half shot attempts.
Maggie Anderson led the way for the Golden Eagles with a trio of shots on goal, while
Bailee Collings added a pair.
Carina Muegge was also able to fire off three shots, while
Halle Hall had two opportunities as well. Reigning Goalkeeper of the Week,
Avery Charlesworth, took the tough luck loss in goal for the Golden Eagles despite making six saves.
The Golden Eagles will look to get right back on track on Saturday as they travel to Kennewick, Washington for a rematch with Pacific Northwest Christian. The Golden Eagles bested the Gladiators 22-0 back on September 12th.
