Golden Eagles continue postseason push; knock off 8th-ranked Salt Lake

JEROME, Idaho - The CSI Women's Soccer team picked up their second consecutive victory over a nationally ranked opponent as they upset 8th-ranked Salt Lake 1-0 on Sophomore Day.
In the final home regular season game of the year, the Golden Eagles had a hard time creating opportunities in the first half as they only registered one shot in the first 45 minutes of play. The defense stayed strong, as the Golden Eagles found their offense down the stretch in the second half, creating five shots. The lone goal came in the 70th minute off of the foot of Annie Layton and that would be all the Golden Eagles needed as their defense held up the duration of the afternoon. Avery Charlesworth picked up where she left off from her shutout on Thursday, as she once again compiled a clean sheet, making three saves in the victory.
The win marks three in a row for the Golden Eagles who are now 7-3 in Scenic West play as they continue to push for their first playoff birth in program history. They will continue that push next week, as they travel North to take on in-state rival North Idaho on Thursday.
