Lindsey Anderson begins her fifth year as the head cross country and distance track coach for the Golden Eagles. Anderson, who competed at Weber State University and ran for the United States in the Beijing Olympics, restarted the CSI program after a 19 year hiatus. The Golden Eagles last fielded a cross country and track and field program in 1998-99.
CSI was named the top junior college cross country program in the nation in 1996 and 1997 because overall its men's and women's cross country teams combined to place the highest of any program in the country. Anderson immediately picked up where the program left off, leading the Golden Eagle women to a fourth-place finish at the NJCAA Division I Cross Country Championships in 2018 and the men to a sixth-place finish. She also coached the men's individual national champion. Her teams have placed in the top six in the nation her last two seasons as well. Last fall was won of the best finishes to date. The CSI Men took second-place overall and the women took third.
Anderson, from Morgan, Utah, competed for Weber State University from 2003 to 2007. She ended her collegiate career as a two-time All American in the 3000m Steeplechase and Indoor 5000m; a school record holder in the 3000m Steeplechase, 10,000m and Indoor 5000m; amd a two-time WSU Women's Athlete MVP. She also was an Academic All-American; a seven-time Big Sky Conference Individual Champion in multiple distance events in indoor and outdoor track and broke the NCAA Steeplechase record.
After graduating from Weber State, Anderson signed with Nike to run professionally. That summer she finished third at the U.S. Outdoor Championships in the 3000m Steeplechase to qualify for the 2007 World Championships in Japan. In 2008, she finished second at the Olympic Trials to qualify for the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, China, finishing 24th overall. In 2009, she again qualified for the World Championships in Berlin, Germany.
During that time and after hanging up her running shoes competitively, Anderson served as an assistant track coach at Weber State from 2007 to 2014.
Prior to taking this job, Anderson was a volunteer assistant track coach at Cal State Bakersfield from 2014 to 2015.
Anderson, who graduated with a Bachelor's of Science in Mathematics and a P.E. Teaching/Coaching Minor, has qualified for the U.S. Olympic Trials in marathon and will look to qualify for her second Olympic Games. Her husband Mark and her have a daughter, Peyton and a son Avett.
