CSI hires new men's basketball assistant

TWIN FALLS – The College of Southern Idaho men's basketball program announces the hiring of Ryan Devlin as the new assistant coach.

Devlin replaces Russ Beck who recently took the head coaching position at Western Nebraska CC.

“Ryan brings a lot of energy and strong recruiting ties to our Golden Eagle program,” said CSI head coach Steve Gosar. “We are excited he is joining the CSI family and look forward to having him and his wife Erin here for a long time.”

Devlin joins the Golden Eagles from Montrose Christian School in Baltimore, Maryland. He was an assistant coach and teacher at the elite prep school.

“Ryan comes highly recommended by some of the top coaches in the nation,” said CSI athletic director Joel Bate. “He is a tenacious recruiter, and his on the court experience and work with players makes him a great fit for our needs here at CSI.”

Montrose is one of the elite prep schools on the east coast, placing student athletes in prestigious programs all over the nation. Two basketball players from the current class will attend Villanova next season.

Prior to working at Montrose, Devlin was an assistant and interim head coach at Hagerstown CC in 2007-08. While there, he coached under Terry Truax (Truax was Dean Smith's assistant for 26 years).

Devlin began his career teaching and coaching underprivileged youth in the Baltimore area at Bowling Brook Prep.

“Ryan and current assistant coach Josh Dees will give head coach Steve Gosar the necessary tools to run and maintain a quality program,” Bate said. “We are excited about the relationships that he has with some of the major programs in the nation. His background on the floor working with players, and the role of teaching and mentoring student athletes is consistent with our overall mission in the athletic program at CSI.”

Devlin earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Pittsburgh in social sciences in 2005.

He and his wife Erin should arrive on campus the first week of school.
